Diana Neville – Conductor

Diana was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Boots Orchestra in May 2019 and was subsequently appointed Conductor on John Sheppard’s retirement in November 2022.

Before moving to Nottingham Diana studied music at the universities of Bristol, Cambridge and Cardiff.   In Cardiff she conducted two orchestras including the Concert Orchestra of St. John’s College from 1989 to 2017.   St. John’s College is the Cathedral School to the Metropolitan Cathedral of  St. David and was founded by her late husband, David Neville.   Playing at home and abroad, the orchestra’s performances included the Bach Double Violin Concerto, Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, all with soloists from St. John’s College.

Richard Foster – Leader

Richard was appointed leader of the Boots Orchestra in November 2012. He started his orchestral playing at school during which time he joined, and for a number of years led, the Nottingham Junior Harmonic Orchestra under Percival Leeds. He led the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra for a number of years and has also been a member of the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra. Richard spent many years on the amateur theatre circuit in the ‘pit’ and from 2008 – 2012 was leader of the Long Eaton Operatic Society orchestra.
